Willow workshops at Haddenham Arts Centre near Ely, Cambridgeshire

Willow weaving is a great way to learn about traditional techniques and natural materials. Share the company of family or make new friends while learning on the day.

This is the second of three workshops in the great setting of Haddenham Arts Centre, You will learn to construct and weave a traditional frame basket using two or three colours of willow.  

October 15th  9.30 – 2.30 p.m. £65 per person.

Frame Basket . You will learn to use willow to make a traditional frame basket, used for foraging or storing eggs. Maximum 8 places to enable a really good learning experience.  All tools and materials are supplied.

This is the SECOND of three workshops led by sculptor and weaver Jane Frost that will provide you with a range of techniques to make baskets and sculpture. You can select one or come to all three.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those who have done some willow weaving before. Maximum 8 places enable a really good learning experience. All tools and materials are supplied. 

Jane has experience teaching all age groups with a variety of needs. This workshop is suitable for everyone over the age of 11, children must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.

Additional things you might like to bring; Notebook, pens or pencil, Garden Wire, Scissors and String, Sharp Knife – Stanley or Craft, Gardening gloves.

You can pre-book a special workshop lunch offer on arrival. Select from the menu, fresh produce is made on-site every day.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

You will need to have a reasonable amount of strength in your hands to be able to work with the willow. Please wear older clothes, such as you would wear for gardening, sandals are not advisable.

Willow needs to be prepared at least a week in advance for each workshop. Therefore if workshops are cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, bookings will be transferred to alternative dates. No refunds will be given.
