You will learn techniques to make and maintain a living willow structure, for a garden or public space.

In the lovely setting of MadHatters Campsite, near Ely, Jane will take you through all the techniques necessary to make your piece and learn maintenance skills. Everyone will go home with a finished structure they can be proud of.

Willow weaving is a great way to learn about traditional techniques and natural materials. Share the company of family or make new friends while learning on the day.

You will learn how to make a living willow structure for your garden or a public space. At MadHatters campsite we will be making on-site structures and screens as well as some to take home.

This is a two-day workshop Friday, February 11th and Saturday 12th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. £65 per day. link here for Saturday workshop

Living Willow Structures. You will learn to use the willow to make sturdy structures, for the garden or public spaces

Workshops led by sculptor and weaver Jane Frost will provide you with a range of techniques to make baskets and sculpture. Jane will take you through all the techniques necessary to make your piece as well as instruction on maintenance. Everyone will go home with a finished piece they can be proud of.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those who have done willow weaving before. Maximum 6 places enable a really good learning experience. All tools and materials are supplied.

Jane has great experience teaching all age groups with a variety of needs. This workshop is suitable for everyone over the age of 13, children must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.

Additional things you might like to bring; Notebook, pens or pencil, Garden Wire, Scissors and String, Sharp Knife – Stanley or Craft, Gardening gloves.


You will need to have a reasonable amount of strength in your hands to be able to work with the willow. You will be working outside, please wear older, very warm clothes, such as you would wear for gardening or farming!

Willow needs to be harvested for each living willow workshop. If workshops are cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, bookings will be transferred to alternative dates. No refunds will be given.
