This is the third of three willow workshops this spring at MadHatters Campsite near Ely.

In this workshop you will learn techniques to make a frame basket, for foraging in hedgerows, vegetable garden, holding eggs or textiles. Your choice! In the lovely setting of MadHatters Campsite, Jane will take you through all the techniques necessary to make your piece and everyone will go home with a finished structure they can be proud of.

There will be a gift available at the third workshop for those who attend all three.

Description

Willow weaving is a great way to learn about traditional techniques and natural materials. Share the company of family or make new friends while learning on the day.

This is the third of three willow workshops this spring at MadHatters Campsite near Ely. You can select one or come to all three and upgrade your skills as you go. 

March 19th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. £65 per person.

Frame baskets You will learn to use the willow to make an attractive basket for foraging in hedgerows or vegetable garden. They make good containers for eggs as well.

Workshops led by sculptor and weaver Jane Frost will provide you with a range of techniques to make baskets and sculpture. Jane will take you through all the techniques necessary to make your piece and everyone will go home with a finished piece they can be proud of.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those who have done willow weaving before. Maximum 8 places enable a really good learning experience. All tools and materials are supplied.

Jane has great experience teaching all age groups with a variety of needs. This workshop is suitable for everyone over the age of 13, children must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.

Additional things you might like to bring; Notebook, pens or pencil, Garden Wire, Scissors and String, Sharp Knife – Stanley or Craft, Gardening gloves.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

You will need to have a reasonable amount of strength in your hands to be able to work with the willow. You will be working undercover but in an unheated area. Please wear older, very warm clothes, such as you would wear for gardening, sandals are not advisable! 

Willow needs to be prepared at least a week in advance for each workshop. Therefore if workshops are cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, bookings will be transferred to alternative dates. No refunds will be given.
